Mahavir sculpture found

THANJAVUR: A sculpture of Mahavir, the 24th Thirthankara, was found at Sabarimukkayi Amman Thidal in Serumakkanallur village of Papanasam taluk in Thanjavur district.

G. Thillai Govindarajan, who is undertaking a project on ‘Jainism in Thanjavur district,’ with aid from Nehru Trust for Indian Collections, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and B. Jambulingam, Researcher, Tamil University, found it during field study.
