RASIPURAM: Over 2,300 grievances petitions were received during the jamabandhi held for the village panchayats in Rasipuram block from June 3 to 11. A majority of the petitions related to old age pension, patta transfer, issue of family cards and free house site pattas. A few persons also submitted petitions seeking basic amenities such as roads, drinking water supply provision and street lights. A team of officials led by Collector U. Sagayam redressed the grievances of over 1,800 petitioners during the jamabandhi, a press release from the district administration said. The Collector instructed the revenue officials to process the applications seeking old age pension quickly. There should not be any delay in sanctioning old age pensions to eligible persons, he said. Mr. Sagayam also said that the administration would take steps to provide free house sites to all eligible persons. Officials should speed up the issue of community certificates. People should extend their support to prevent encroachments in water bodies and on government lands, he added. The Collector inspected the verification of records maintained by the local administrations during the jamabandhi. He disbursed welfare assistance to 252 beneficiaries selected under various government welfare schemes and also handed over family cards, patta transfer orders, and old age pension orders.
