KOCHI: The first meeting of the Police Residents’ Association Initiative in District Ernakulam (PRIDE) after a group of associations broke away from the Ernakulam District Residents’ Association Apex Council and formed Residents’ Apex Council Ernakulam (RACE), mostly focussed on traffic reforms. The representatives of EDRAAC suggested that two-wheelers may be exempted from one-ways within city limits. It was suggested that this could be tried out on an experimental basis at select roads like the one connecting Palarivattom Junction and St. Martin’s Church junction. Representatives of RACE suggested distributing pamphlets on safe driving to private bus employees. In the absence of City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham, Deputy City Police Commissioner P. Prakash chaired the meeting held at Zion Auditorium, Thripunithura. Assistant Commissioners P.M. Varghese, V.M. Mohammed Rafeeq and Sunil Jacob, and other police officers were present.
