NLC contract workers defer strike

CUDDALORE: Contract workers of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, affiliated to the All India Trade Union Congress, have postponed the proposed strike from June 15 to 19. District general secretary of the AITUC M. Sekar told The Hindu on Sunday that depending on the outcome of the third round of talks to be held in Chennai, the union would decide its course of action. The management had agreed to expedite issuance of Medical Treatment Books to contract workers and their dependents for availing free treatment at the NLC-run hospital. — Special Correspondent
