The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board is yet to implement e-governance in the collection of EB bills. On some days owing to failure of Internet connectivity, collection of charges at the computerised counters comes to a halt for hours together resulting in long queues, causing hardship to consumers. It may be noted that online electricity bill payment system for customers of some of the leading banks has been recently introduced in Chennai. Further Any Time Payment for domestic consumers is also in force in collaboration with some banks. Hence, the TNEB may extend the same method to other cities as well. S. Nallasivan, Tirunelveli.
