Entrance reforms soon: Baby

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister M.A. Baby has said that the government will announce reforms in the engineering/ medical entrance examinations in a week’s time.

Announcing the entrance results for this year at a press meet here on Monday, the Minister said weightage to the marks scored in the qualifying examinations would form part of the reforms.

Official procedures related to the recommendations made by the expert committee that studied entrance reforms were almost complete.

Press meet disrupted

The press meet was disrupted for a few minutes when four or five activists of the Campus Front barged into the PR Chamber inside the Secretariat, shouted slogans and displayed placards demanding the scrapping of the entrance examinations.

The entrance tests, the activists claimed, were anti-poor. Later, the activists were removed by the police.

At a press conference held on Monday evening, Front State president K. S. Shan deplored the police action and said non-bailable charges had been slapped on the activists who demonstrated inside the PR Chamber.
