Madurai: The explosion of a mysterious object on Ring Road here caused flutter near Karupayoorani on Monday night. The police said that a passer-by had found a bag lying near a culvert on the Ring Road. He took out one of the many plastic boxes kept inside the bag. One of the boxes exploded when he threw it after he could not open it. The man fled the scene even as others informed the police about the explosion. The nature of the materials kept inside the bag was not known. Police personnel have been deployed at the scene. Karupayoorani police are investigating.
