Special Correspondent

TAMBARAM: A 25-year-old youth was electrocuted while working at an apartment complex under construction on Madambakkam Main Road near Tambaram on Sunday.

Selaiyur police, who are investigating, said M. Thathan Baburi of West Bengal came to the complex some weeks ago as his relatives too were working there.

On Sunday, he was polishing tiles on the third floor of one of the blocks in the massive complex.

Around 6 p.m., he turned off the polishing machine and reached out to a switch box to turn on a “double light” when he came in contact with a live wire.

Police said the youth was seriously injured. Co-workers rushed him to a private hospital in East Tambaram, where he died.
