Modernisation of lift irrigation projects on anvil

KOCHI: A project is being readied to modernise various lift irrigation projects in the district for which the State government has allotted Rs. 6 crore to the district.
A meeting chaired by District Collector M. Beena held at the district collectorate recently evaluated various aspects of the modernisation project. MLAs and other people’s representatives attended the meeting.
A slew of mechanical works will also be undertaken. A project worth Rs. 36 crore was originally submitted to the State government for the modernisation of various irrigation projects, Any Mathew, executive engineer of the minor irrigation department, informed the meeting.
