Officials alerted on disaster management

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Collector Ahmad Nadeem asked officials in the district to be in a state of high alert in view of the monsoon immediately ahead. He asked revenue, communications and agriculture officials to keep ready an action plan for disaster management in terms of floods during the season.

At a meeting here, the Collector said there was a need to be ready to meet any contingency as there is always a danger of floods damaging crops and other property. He said the officials should stock grain as buffer to last for a few days in case of a calamity.

Mr. Nadeem said emergency medical and rescue teams should also be geared to come to aid in such times. Meetings on disaster management should be convened at revenue divisional level to draft action plans, he added. The Police Department was also to draw an action plan to take care of communal eruptions.
