Novel protest: Activists of Lambada Hakkula Porata Samithi staging a dharna by offering alcohol to the effigy of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao protesting against the alleged attack on former MP D. Ravindra Naik, in Warangal on Tuesday. HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leadership expressed regrets over the incidents that occurred at the Telangana Bhavan on Monday and said the party will not stand on prestige to tender apology to the associations representing the cause of tribals if they were hurt by the “unwarranted incident.” In a statement, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao explained that the party’s former MP D. Ravindra Naik’s resignation was accepted by the leadership, but the latter tried to force his way into the party office. He was, however, stopped and sent back by the party cadre and the leadership came to know about it only after the executive meeting concluded. The statement, which was issued in the light of the embarrassment faced by the party following the alleged attack on Mr. Ravindra Naik, a tribal leader, was aimed at assuaging the feelings of ST organisations. Briefing reporters, TRS MLA T. Harish Rao and other leaders, however, refused to comment on the turmoil within the party on the ground that the party did not intend to hurt the feelings of tribals whose cause it had been championing for several years. Sources said the TRS leadership had decided to expedite constitution of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and other panels before chalking out the future course of action. A section of leaders appeared to be of the firm view that the absence of an apex decision-making body gave scope for such situations and constitution of the PAC would send proper signals about the party’s functioning. “The decisions would forthwith be collective as the leadership is not willing to attract criticism of being unilateral,” a senior leader said. Meanwhile, expelled leader A. Chandrasekhar said the party leadership was forced to conduct the executive meeting by deploying some ‘henchmen’. He ridiculed claims that “vested interests were hatching conspiracies to eliminate KCR.”
