KEESARA (Ranga Reddy dt): Three of a family were electrocuted while trying to douse flames engulfing their two tractors parked before the house, unaware that snapped high tension wires had ignited them, at Shivajinagar here on Tuesday. The entire Keesara village plunged into sorrow over the shocking incident where two other women family members too sustained severe burns. Police explained that Ch. Mallesh Yadav, 38, woke up around 2 a.m. as smoke bellowed out of the burning tractor engines. “Apparently, under the impression that someone was torching their vehicles and worried about damage likely to be caused to the Maruti 800 car parked between them, he rushed out with a bucket of water. Mallesh was electrocuted within seconds,” Keesara Inspector T. Manohar Reddy told reporters. Alerted by his cries, his mother, Mallamma, 60, raised an alarm and ran to rescue him only to meet with similar fate. Meanwhile, her second son, Laxman, 33, and two daughters-in-law — Padma and Nirmala — also came out and started shouting for help. In the darkIn the dark, none of them noticed the live wires lying on the burning tractors. On seeing his mother writhing in pain, Laxman tried to pull her out and also got electrocuted. “We were helpless and could only watch our beloved ones die right before our eyes,” Padma and Nirmala said.
