TIRUVARUR: Seven panchayat unions in the district have been declared industrially backward by the State Government and subsidies would be given to industries started in these places, said Collector M. Chandrasekaran here on Tuesday.
He told presspersons that Koradachery, Kodavasal, Needamangalam, Valangaiman, Kottur, Thiruthuraipoondi and Muthupettai were the panchayat unions.
As per the policy announced by the Government for small and tiny industries on February 22, 2008, following subsidies were available for them.
Subsidy on capital, land purchased for starting the unit, exemption from value added tax would be some of the benefits that would be given to industries , which produce industrial infrastructure products, agro based and food processing units, being set up in these unions, he said.
Those industries which have started commercial production could apply for subsidy to General Manager of District Industries Centre, Tiruvarur. They could also contact the GM over phone number 224403.
