HSL takeover brooks no delay: BMS

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has asked the UPA Government to initiate measures for immediate takeover of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Addressing a press conference, BMS all-India general secretary K. Lakshma Reddy said on Wednesday that in the larger interest of the premier shipbuilding yard, it should be brought under the administrative control of MoD without further delay.

Mr. Reddy said, to overcome raw material insecurity faced by VSP it should be merged with NMDC. Coming down heavily on the economic policies pursued by the UPA Government, he said the reforms, which were a fallout of globalisation, was dismantling the agriculture system and opening floodgates to private insurance and banks.

The BMS leader condemned the hire and fire policy adopted by managements and demanded withdrawal of proposals to amend labour laws to allow hire and fire by employers.
