Eco-friendly move: Collector J. Chandrakumar inaugurating the planting of saplings at Perumal Malai foothills in Salem on Wednesday. — SALEM: Collector J. Chandrakumar called upon the non-government organisations to encourage people to plant more saplings in the district. Inaugurating the planting of saplings at Perumal Malai foothills organised by the Ashokar Pasumai Illam here on Wednesday, the Collector said more efforts should be carried out to identify places where saplings could be planted. SupportThe district administration will extend full support to the voluntary organisations that take up tree planting. He called upon the NGOs to come forward to plant saplings in the Theevattipatti Samathuvapuram. Mr. Chandrakumar said the active participation of the people in tree plantation would help create better living conditions for future generations. Ashokar Pasumai Illam Founder President A. Ganapathi presided. Over 500 saplings were planted during the programme.
