Hyderabad: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy instructed officials to focus on sanitation, roads and drinking water supply at Bholakpur on Monday. Reviewing a comprehensive action plan to improve civic amenities in the area along with GHMC Commissioner S.P. Singh and HMWSSB Managing Director M.T. Krishna Babu, Dr. Reddy pointed out that Rs. 11.60 crore was released for the area and funds would not be a constraint in providing basic amenities or improving them. He instructed the officials to supply tankers with safe drinking water all through the area and replace water pipelines and broken drainages while the lines were being laid. However, officials were asked to go slow on the slum development plan as some of the locals were reluctant to shift from their houses. Civic conditions in areas such as Mohammed Nagar, Vivek Nagar, Mahatma Nagar, Gulshan Nagar, Jamiya Masjid, Sanjeevaiah Colony, Indira Nagar- I and II, Ranga Nagar and Siddiq Nagar, were discussed, said a press release. The Chief Minister also said that local residents, public representatives and resident welfare organisations should be involved in all the development programmes. Officials should take the initiative of creating awareness regarding hygiene among residents of these areas and each house should have a toilet.
