Udupi: A team of officials from the Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation visited the Government Composite High School (South) here on Wednesday after receiving complaints of poor quality cloth being supplied for uniforms. The State Government provides cloth to stitch uniforms for students in government schools. The team first visited the storeroom near Mahatma Gandhi Government School where the cloth was kept. General Secretary of the Udupi Nagarika Samiti Nityananda Volakadu washed a piece of the cloth in front of the officials, the colour of which started to run. The team comprised quality control manager of the corporation Gangadhar, supply in-charge Subramanya and Udupi unit officer Shivamurugan. DDPI K. Ananda and Block Education Officer D. Manjunathayya accompanied the team. Mr. Manjunathayya said that the teams would send separate reports to the Education Commissioner along with samples of the cloth.
