VELLORE: Ten-year-old Rahul Ganesh, V Standard student of Narayani Vidyalaya, Thirumalaikkodi, Vellore has earned money through contributions from well-wishers when he ran from Vellore to Puducherry and later from Vellore to Walajapet a few years ago to create awareness on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). But that is not news. This boy has decided to donate notebooks to poor and visually impaired students by utilising these earnings. At a function organised by Bharath Amma Social Service Organisation in Deter Line here on Thursday, Collector C. Rajendran distributed notebooks worth Rs. 3,500 on behalf of Rahul Ganesh to about 100 poor, visually challenged and mentally challenged students. M. Ushanandini, founder, Bharath Amma Social Service Organisation, K.M. Shammi Kumar, Deputy Governor, Rotary District 3230, A.G. Arumugam and A.P. Ramalingam, former presidents of Ariyur village panchayat, A. Venkatesan, former president of Rotary Community Corps, Immanuel Arulraj, founder, Betheri Institute of Basic Level Education, Vellore, A. Sundar, founder, World Service Society, K.P. Umadevi, founder, Annai Indira Women’s Welfare Association Trust, and Bala, director of short films, Oviyalaya participated in the function.
