Minister warns agriculture officials

Mahabubnagar: Minister for Civil Supplies Jupalli Krishna Rao exhorted agriculture officers to take proper steps for distribution of quality seed and fertilizer to farmers on time.

He was addressing district-level agriculture officers meeting here on Friday.

The Minister said that the officers concerned should procure adequate seed and fertilizer required in the district and ensure that the same reaches the needy farmers. He instructed them to inspect seed and fertilizer dealers’ shops to avoid duplicate seed and fertilizer supply.

Mr. Rao warned the officials that if it comes to his notice that crops are damaged due to duplicate seed or fertilizer, action would be taken against dealer and as well as the officer concerned.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Small Scale Industries D.K. Aruna said that the officers concerned should ensure that the dealers sell the seed and fertilizer at prescribed rates.

She also said that adequate seed and fertilizer should be procured in time.

Farmers should not suffer for want of seed and fertilizer, she said.

Zilla Parishad Chairman K. Damodhar Reddy and district Collector K. Damayanthi also spoke.
