Tirupur: Member-secretary of Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) Satyabrata Sahoo said that the indoor stadium planned by SDAT along with the district administration in Tirupur at an estimated outlay of Rs. 1 crore would be commissioned next year.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the site identified for the stadium on Government Chikkanna Arts College premises, he said that the multi-purpose facility would come up on a five-acre plot with provision for parking of vehicles. “The indoor stadium will have seating capacity to accommodate 2,000 persons,” he added.

Mr. Sahoo said that of the total expenditure, 50 per cent would be contributed by SDAT while the remaining amount would be raised by the district administration through public contributions. “Construction will commence once the MoU between SDAT and the college is signed,” he added.

Collector C. Samayamoorthy and senior officials of various departments were present.
