Arshdeep wins title

BANGALORE: Arshdeep Tiwana, the 22-year-old from Hyderabad, won his maiden title after four rounds of the LG Southern India Amateur Golf championship, which threw up a new leader at the end of each day.

Arshdeep managed a seven over 295 after 72 holes for top honours and that in itself tells how the course at the KGA played over the four days.

But then Arshdeep was one amateur who improved each day.

A hole in one on Thursday put him in contention, after two ordinary days of golfing.

And on Friday the young lad played simple golf to master the odds.

The overnight lead group included leader Angad Cheema, Karan Vasudeva (who led after the second round) and Arshdeep. At the final count Karan Vasudeva and Angad were tied for the second spot, with eight over 296, but on count-back it was the former who was placed ahead.
