THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The next session of the State Assembly will start on Monday to discuss and put to vote the financial proposals in the Budget, Speaker K. Radhakrishnan said here on Saturday. Briefing the media about the session’s calendar, the Speaker said the Assembly would also devote time for taking up certain important government business. Seven ordinances were in force at the moment and the government would bring Bills to replace some of them during the session. The session, which would be on till July 29, would also see the introduction of a few of the Bills already published in the government gazette. Responding to a question, the Speaker said he would call Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs for a hearing before taking a decision on the request of one section for sitting in the Assembly as a separate bloc. Janata Dal (S) MLA K.P. Mohanan had given him a letter making this request on behalf of him and two other party colleagues (M.K. Premachandran and M.P. Sreyams Kumar). Party national president H.D. Deve Gowda, however, submitted a letter stating that the party MLAs would continue in the treasury benches. Jose Thettayil, another MLA belonging to the party, too submitted a letter asking him not to allow Mr. Mohanan’s request. (The party has five members in the Assembly, including the former Minister Mathew T. Thomas.)
