Combined under-16 fights back

Bangalore: B. Aparjith’s 140 and Nikhil Naik’s unbeaten 74 helped Combined under-16 delay South’s quest for victory in a Col. Hemu Adhikary Memorial Trophy NCA inter-zonal academy under-19 tournament match in progress at Hosur on Monday.

At close on the third day, Combined under-16 scored 377 for seven in its second innings and is ahead by 64 runs. However with a day’s play remaining and with South eyeing an easy second innings target, the Combined under-16 lower order has to survive to avoid defeat.

At Mysore, North defeated President’s XI by an innings and 235 runs.

The scores: Combined u-16 161 in 71.3 overs and 377 for seven in 100 overs (B. Aparjith 140, Nikhil Naik 74 n.o., Rakshan Faraz 38, Shravan Kumar 33) vs South 474 for seven decl. in 108.2 overs.

President’s XI 149 in 61 overs and 115 in 48.4 overs (Avilin Ghosh 31, Samit Goel 30, Manan Sharma four for 15, Sandeep Sharma three for 26) lost to North 499 in 133.4 overs (Gurinder Singh 102 n.o., Sunny Serawat 58, Mandeep Singh 38, Samit Goel five for 80).

Central 480 for eight decl. in 143 overs vs East 327 for six in 131.1 overs (Abhilash Mallick 186, Avishek Das 38, Rajdeep Das 29 n.o.).

West 328 in 121 overs and 135 for four in 68 overs (Avi Barot 59, Hitesh Solanki 56 n.o.) vs AIU 220 in 76.2 overs (Ajmer Singh 83, Jayadev Unandkat five for 63, Harmeet Singh three for 37).
