Well done

The Pakistan cricket team deserves praise for its emphatic win over Sri Lanka in the second ICC World Twenty20. Its win is particularly remarkable as it was facing virtual isolation in international cricket in the aftermath of the Lahore terror attack. The greatest strength of the Pakistan team is its unpredictability. By winning the trophy, it has proved it yet again.

At last, the troubled country has something to cheer about. Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan played good cricket. Younis Khan came across as an affable captain with a shrewd cricketing brain. T20 is no longer the slam-bang stuff it was made out to be. Bowlers — especially spinners — are increasingly having a say in the outcome of the game.

The determination, planning, unity and the confidence of the Pakistan players have won them the T20 trophy. Hats off to the team!

The stunning victory of the Pakistan team at Lord’s bore testimony to the fantastic coordination and understanding among its players. The victory is an occasion to celebrate for a country that has seen a spate of terrorist activities in recent times.
