The first military vehicle, a three-ton truck, to be manufactured in the Public Sector in India, rolled off the assembly line at the Gun Carriage Factory at Jubbalpore on June 21. Prime Minister Nehru, who inaugurated the project, christened the three-ton vehicle “Shaktiman” (the powerful one).
