KOLKATA: Lakshmipathy Balaji, who was here to play for Mohun Bagan in the ongoing P. Sen Trophy cricket tournament, says the next two seasons will be very crucial to his career. “The next two seasons will be very important for me. I am not getting younger and I need to achieve whatever I want to within this span of time,” he told newspersons after Mohun Bagan won the semifinal against Kalighat at the Eden Gardens on Monday. Thanks the clubThe lanky Tamil Nadu pacer said he enjoyed the outing with Mohun Bagan and thanked the club for providing him an opportunity to play in Kolkata. “It is a prestigious club and I am privileged to play for Mohun Bagan. Despite the weather conditions, I enjoyed playing for the club. It was a good experience indeed,” he said. Balaji said Pakistan lifting the T20 World Cup was indeed a surprise. “In this format, of the game anybody can win the championship. Teams like Australia and South Africa were expected to do well but Pakistan proved to be the surprise packet,” he said and added, “it is a good sign that the sub-continent teams are winning this format of the World Cup.” — Special Correspondent
