Youth drowns in Ganga at Varanasi

Varanasi: A youth was drowned while immersing the ashes of his mother in the river Ganga here, police said on Monday.

G. Nag Anil Kumar and his brother from Hyderabad arrived at the Dashashwamedh Ghat here on Sunday to immerse the ashes of their mother. After performing the rites, Kumar went to take a dip in the river, leaving his brother at the ghat. He was swept away by the fast currents, police said, adding that his body was recovered. -PTI
