HYDERABAD: The world’s second largest dairy farm and a new manufacturing facility of a bio-pesticide major will soon find home in the State, going by indications given by the Israeli Ambassador to India, Mark Sofer.

At a business meet on ‘Indo-Israel-Opportunities for Trade and Investment’ put together by the Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FAPCCI) here, he said he held discussions to this effect with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday.

Mr. Sofer recalled how trade between Israel and India had increased from US $ 200 million in 1992 to a whopping US $ 4.1 billion in the last fiscal. He said that key areas of cooperation between the two nations would be agriculture, IT & C and homeland security. In the IT & C sector, he said in the near future, there was a possibility of Israeli companies in the field of hardware could set up units in the State and elsewhere in the country. In the area of homeland security, he said he could not divulge more details. In his address, former Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy recalled his experiences while on a tour of Israel a few years ago. Others who made presentations aimed at invoking Israeli interest included Srinivas Ayyadevara, Chairman of FAPCCI’s Foreign Trade Committee, M. Gopikrishna, Special Secretary, IT & C, AP and Swaranjit Sen, Chairman, AP Tourism Development Corporation. Earlier, FAPCCI president K. Harishchandra Prasad welcomed the gathering, while FAPCCI’s senior vice-president Shekhar Agarwal proposed a vote of thanks.
