Increased power supply

CHENNAI: The duration of power supply for irrigation pumps in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts will be increased in view of the delay in the arrival of monsoon, Deputy Chief Minister M. K. Stalin announced on Tuesday.

Making a suo moto statement in the Assembly, Mr. Stalin said the delay had delayed the release of the Cauvery water for kuruvai cultivation and farmers were depending on pumpsets for irrigation.

The announcement of the increase took effect on Tuesday.
