Former CEC T.S. Krishna Murthy will release the book Seetharamaiah is Pro-Chancellor of Gitam University VISAKHAPATNAM: Former Chief Election Commissioner T.S. Krishna Murthy will release a volume of essays on ‘education, culture and development’ brought out by GITAM University and Centre for Policy Studies of Gayatri Vidya Parishad, to mark the 75th birthday of noted chartered accountant Vavilala Seetaramaiah, on Friday. A partner of Brahmaiah and company, Mr. Seetaramaiah, as an educationist and philanthropist, has been associated with several institutions and organisations for over 40 years. He was on the Andhra University’s Executive Council for 11 years and is the founding member of GITAM University, now its Pro-Chancellor, founding member and vice–president of Gayatri Vidya Parishad, founding member and treasurer of Visakha Institute of Professional Studies, treasurer and Vice-President of Lebenshilfe, a home for the mentally challenged children, initially honorary secretary, presently Vice-President of Visakha Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, which runs public school from LKG to X standard, and founding secretary of Visakhapatnam Public Library. He is also member of several cultural and religious organisations, including the Andhra Music Academy, Visakha Music Academy, Kuchipudi Kalakshetra, Pragati Charitable Trust, Sri Sita Ramachandraswamy Religious and Charitable Trust and Member of the development committee of Sri Sampath Vinayagar trust. On the occasion of his 75th birthday, he has adopted a municipal school, which he will support with money under the Sweekaram Scheme for the benefit of the poor children. Born in Guntur district, Mr. Seetaramaiah graduated in commerce in 1953 from Andhra University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1956. Inspired by the ideals of P. Brahmayya, a pioneer in the field of chartered accountancy and Founder- Chairman of Brahmayya & company with branches in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, he joined the company in 1956 and became a partner in 1964. He came to Visakhapatnam in 1966 and started that year the Vizag branch of the company. His integrity and efficiency added to the stature of the company and earned for him a wide circle of friends and admirers in Visakhapatnam, in particular, and in south India in general. He conducted audits, among other things, of leading private and public sector undertakings like Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, NALCO, ONGC, and AP Paper Mills and represented before Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam benches and other IT authorities.
