Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist arrested
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police, the CRPF and the Army on Thursday arrested a top Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist in Sopore district in north Kashmir.
On a tip-off, the security personnel arrested Abid alias Assadullah, who was active in this region for the past two years and was involved in various attacks on security forces, at Wetlab, official sources said.
The police recovered a Chinese pistol, a magazine and four rounds of ammunition from Abid, a resident of Peshawar in Pakistan.
The arrest of the top JEM commander came at a time when Sopore town witnessed a series of militant attacks over the past fortnight, resulting in the killing of five persons, including two policemen and a woman. --PTI
