Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The former Union Law Minister, Hans Raj Bhardwaj, was appointed Governor of Karnataka on Wednesday, a Rashtrapati Bhavan press communiqué said.
Mr. Bhardwaj replaces Rameshwar Thakur, who has been appointed Madhya Pradesh Governor for his remaining tenure. Mr. Thakur replaces Balram Jakhar, whose term ends on June 30.
Mr. Thakur was first appointed Governor on November 17, 2004. In 2006, he was shifted to Andhra Pradesh and later to Karnataka in 2007.
The former Finance Minister of Assam, Devanand Konwar, has been appointed Governor of Bihar in place of R. L. Bhatia, whose term ended on Tuesday.
Mr. Konwar was not included in the Tarun Gogoi Ministry last year.
