Residents protest water contamination

HYDERABAD: Alleging negligence and official indifference, over 200 residents of Amberpet Assembly constituency led by BJP legislator G. Kishan Reddy staged a sit-in at the Hyderabad Metro Water Board Division office at Narayanaguda on Wednesday. They carried pale-yellow drinking water being supplied in their areas, and said aging water pipelines were leading to its contamination with drainage. Low water pressure and overflowing drainswere among the problems they faced. In a memorandum submitted to the Managing Director, HMWSSB, Mr. Reddy said that parts of Amberpet were at risk of turning into another ‘Bholakpur’ and demanded immediate attention.
