SALEM: The Regional Fertilizer Control Laboratory in Chennai, Department of Agriculture and Madras Fertilizer Limited (MFL) jointly organised a refresher training programme for fertilizer manufacturers, dealers and fertilizer inspectors of Salem district recently. Participating in the programme, Assistant Director from the laboratory M. Arun said fertilizer inspectors did not require a search warrant to enter a place connected to manufacturing, stock keeping and selling of fertilizers. They can conduct inspections and also interrogate any fertilizer manufacturer or dealer. The manufacturers and dealers were answerable under the Fertilizer Control Order. An inquiry could be conducted if dealers were found deviating from the rules. Errant dealers could be booked according to government rules. Joint Director of Agriculture (in-charge) R. Panneerselvam presided over the training programme.
