“Kidnappers will be brought to book”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Thursday assured the Assembly that those who were behind the kidnapping of Bhaskaran of Dindigul would be brought to book.

When Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had brought to his notice that All India Anna Dravida Munnera Kazhagam and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) wanted exhaustive investigation into the matter, he immediately ordered the transfer of the case to Crime Branch-CID.

On June 21, a vehicle, that was lying abandoned in Dindigul town, was found by the police.

Three mobile phone instruments were recovered from the vehicle. It came to be known that the instruments were used by the kidnappers, the Chief Minister said, responding to a call attention notice.

S. Thenmozhi (AIADMK) and K. Balabharathy (CPI-M) contended that Bhaskaran, who was kidnapped on April 30, had been murdered. They wanted a thorough investigation into the case.
