Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: Superintendent of Police M.K. Singh has directed the Police Department in the district to make all efforts to prevent the increasing atrocities and violence against women. If necessary, take the help of other departments to contain the incidents, he said addressing a district-level crime review meeting held here on Wednesday.

The officials of Women and Child Welfare, Road Transport Authority and Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation also participated along with the sub-divisional police officers and circle inspectors.

All the departments decided to work in coordination to prevent crime against women.

The SP suggested DSPs and CIs to share the first information reports of the cases of crime against women and progress of the cases with the Women and Child Welfare Department from time-to-time. Parking and indiscriminate stopping of autos and buses in the town was causing lot of inconvenience to the general public and it was decided to act in coordination with RTA and RTC officials and put an end to the menace.

Several police officers suggested introduction of mini city bus services for the convenience of people and seizure of autorickshaws plying without license. The police and motor vehicle inspectors were told to register cases against autorickshaws and other vehicles carrying passengers illegally on the national highways to contain road accidents.

Later, the SP reviewed registration of cases, arrest of suspects, progress of cases, pending cases, thefts and robberies. He complimented the officials who showed results and took to task officers with poor track record.
