Drinking water problem looms large

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: A serious drinking water problem is looming large over Anantapur district with the continuing delay in the onset of monsoon. The continuing dry spell is causing drying up of sources of drinking water and the reason has already forced the officials to take up transportation of water to seven villages.

The Rural Water Supply Department is transporting water to Komatikuntla, Garuguchintalapalli, Balapuram, Goparajupalli, P. Chintalapalli and Putlur in Putlur mandal and Hanchanahal village in Vidapanakal mandal. Delay in rains by another 10-15 days is likely to create drinking water problem in many other villages.
