Keshava Malagi Bangalore: Keshava Malagi, a 46-year-old short story writer and novelist from Karnataka has been awarded with senior fellowship of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for the year 2008-09. During his two years of senior fellowship, Mr. Malagi will focus on the field of literary research and will study the influence of French language and literature on Kannada literature, since 1850 to 2000, and translate some of the important literary texts into Kannada. Though hailing from the northern part of the State, Mr. Malagi is now settled in Bangalore. He has published three short stories, two novels — Kunkuma Bhoomi and Angada Dhare — and a few translation works. He has translated and edited a reader of Boris Pasternak, the Russian Nobel laureate; Jorge Luis Borges, a distinguished Spanish author; and some of the important Caribbean and African writers. He has earned many awards such as the Pa Vem Acharya Award, Gulbarga University gold medal and the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award. He had worked in media and publishing houses such as Prajavani and Longman besides writing screenplays and dialogues for many documentaries.
