dated June 27, 1959: Flood havoc in Assam

The flood situation in North Kamrup area in Assam has not improved yet. The railway track between Pathsala and Sarupeta has been submerged dislocating railway traffic over this section. Standing rice crops estimated at 60,000 maunds and all vegetable crops and betelnut trees were completely wiped out. On the tenth day of the flood on June 26, roofs of many houses are still under water. Landslips have been numerous in the hill area.
