dated June 27, 1959: Charles Starkweather

Charles Starkweather, the 20-year-old killer, who wrote a crimson chapter in American crime history by murdering 11 people, was executed in the electric chair in Lincoln (Nebraska) on June 25. Starkweather went to the chair quietly. When asked if he wanted to say anything, he shook his head. Dr. B.A. Finkell, the gaol physician, who was to have pronounced Starkweather dead, suffered a heart-attack and died just before the execution.
