Sashank Nag slams century

HYDERABAD: P. Sashank Nag scored 102 (13x4) for Ensconse against Marredpally Colts in the A-Division (three-day) league cricket championship here on Friday. Sashank’s century helped his team stay in the race by scoring 267 for five on the second day in reply to MP Colts 364 in the first innings.

In the A-Division (two-day) league match, veteran off-spinner Syed Ayub Hussaini (four for 22) set up Central Excise’s easy nine-wicket win over Megacity.

A-Division (three-day) league: AOC 260 & 202 for seven decl. (Sarabjeet Singh 50, Sandeep 51, Irfan Khan 45, P.M. Saravesh Kumar three for 35, A. Lalith Mohan three for 78) drew with Deccan Chronicle 163 & 71 for two.

Marredpally Colts 364 (Benjamin Thomas 37, V. Sandeep 146, Shane Madge 30 not out, Faheem five for 63) vs Ensconse 267 for five (P. Sashank Nag 102, Md. Shakeer Ahmed 49, Habeeb Ahmed 61 batting).

Kannan XI wins

Kannan XI recorded a solitary-goal win over Gowrishankar XI in the inaugural match of the Sachdev Sports veterans’ football tournament at Vijayawada. After a barren first-half, striker Inderpal found the target off a pass from midfielder Dharmender in the 20th minute.

ACA Secretary’s XI well placed

ACA Secretary’s XI was well placed against ACA President’s XI at close on the first day of the ACA North Zone under-19 team selection match at Vizianagaram on Friday.

The scores:

ACA President’s XI 131 in 51.4 overs (S.H. Srinivas 34 n.o., M.U.B. Sri Ram 29, P.S.S.R. Ramesh four for 17, M. Bharani Kumar three for 31) vs. ACA Secretary’s XI 114 for three in 37 overs (G. Chiranjeevi 43, Ch. Rajesh Yadav 41).

Ram Kumar takes title

Tamil Nadu’s Ram Kumar Ramanathan won the AITA Super Series U-16 boys’ singles title defeating Andhra Pradesh’s K. Pradeep Reddy 7-6(1), 6-0 in the final at Vijayawada on Friday.

Ram Kumar, along with Pradeep, won the doubles title too outplaying V. Savan and S. Abdullah of Andhra Pradesh 6-1, 6-4.

Tamil Nadu’s Sai Samhitha clinched the girls’ honours defeating Delhi’s K. Bhuvana 6-2, 0-6, 6-4.

However, Bhuvana, partnering Neena Reddy of AP, won the girls doubles title defeating Sai and Swetha Sreehari 6-4, 6-3.

Boys singles: Ram Kumar Ramanathan (TN) bt K. Praveen Reddy (AP) 7-6(1), 6-0.

Doubles: K. Pradeep Reddy (AP) & Ram Kumar Ramanathan (TN) bt V. Savan (AP) & S. Abdullah (AP) 6-1, 6-4.

Girls: Sai Samhitha (TN) bt K. Bhuvana (Del) 6-2, 0-6, 6-4.

Innings win for Nellore

Nellore scored an innings and two runs victory over Chittoor in the ACA South Zone U-19 tournament at Anantapur, according to information reaching here on Friday.

The scores:

Chittoor 112 and 121 in 41.3 overs (Prasanna Kumar four for 37, Anil Kumar three for one) lost to Nellore 235; Anantapur 194 and 178 for five in 44 overs (Imtiyaz 41, Bhanu Prakash Naik 40) drew with Kadapa 171 in 59.4 overs (Sheriff 57, K. Naresh Kumar five for 34, Praveen Kumar four for 50).

Ganesh excels

T.K. Ganesh Kumar (59) helped Secretary’s XI register 241 in 88.4 overs against President’s XI in the Central Zone U-19 three-day selection match here on Friday.
