Rallies taken out against drug abuse

KRISHNAGIRI/DHARMAPURI: In connection with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, rallies were taken out in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri on Friday.

In Krishnagiri, Collector V.K. Shanmugam flagged off the rally at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School. Students from different schools participated enthusiastically in the rally with placards containing messages against the evils of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. They also raised slogans against the two evils.

The rally was culminated at the new bus stand.

N. Palani, Assistat Commissioner (Excise), M. Baskaran, Chief Education Officer, Gomathy, Assistant Public Relations Officer and members of Consumer Protection Group participated.

In Dharmapuri, Collector P. Amutha flagged off the rally at the Collectorate. Earlier, she administered an oath “not to use drugs and strive to correct the drug users” to the participants.

Students raised slogans against the use of drugs. The rally was culminated at Government Boys Higher Secondary School.

More than 700 students participated.

Superintendent of Police R. Sudhakar, District Revenue Officer Maheshwari Ravikumar, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) Shanmugam, Personal Assistant to Collector (General) V. Nagarajan, Chief Education Officer Rajarajan and other officials participated.
