Take care of consumer rights: Collector

KARUR: Government officials should be sensitive to the consumers’ demands and requirements, District Collector (in charge) C. Munirathinam said here on Wednesday.
Addressing government officials at a sensitisation programme on consumer needs and affairs, Mr. Munirathinam said that Consumer Protection Act 1986 provided for a range of protection to the consumers against exploitation and malpractices.
There was a need to create awareness among the people of consumer protection, he added.
It was important that the officials address the grievances in a manner that would satisfy the complainant, the District Collector (in charge) added.
Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies Uma Maheswari, District Supply Officer Velliangiri, and other officials participated in the programme.
