Takes additional charge as Assam Governor

Guwahati: Nagaland Governor K. Sankaranarayanan on Friday assumed additional charge as Assam Governor following the demise of Shiv Charan Mathur.
Mr. Sankaranarayanan was sworn in by Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court J. Chellameswar at a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan here.
Ministers Bhumidhar Barman, Pradyut Bordoloi, Bharat Narah, Prithvi Majhi, Pramila Rani Brahma and Ajanta Neog and senior officials were present.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who arrived from Delhi, called on the new Governor. The Chief Minister congratulated Mr. Sankaranarayanan on his new appointment and apprised him of the current situation in the State.
