HONOUR: A. Sivathanu Pillai, chairman & managing director, BrahMos, Thiruvananthapuram and CC (R&D), DRDO, receiving the AS 9100 certificate from R. Sankaralingam, In-charge, Aerospace Certification, TUV NORD, Chennai. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Limited (BATL) has been given the prestigious AS 9100 certification for the manufacture of aerospace systems for aircraft, space craft, missiles and other related precision products. The certification has been done by German certifying agency TUV NORD. S. Venugopal, Executive Director, said here on Saturday that the BATL was the first organisation in Kerala to get AS 9100 certification. He thanked Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, who were instrumental in the materialisation of BATL. BATL Chairman A. Sivathanu Pillai said the BATL was now ready for significant contributions to the defence and space sectors.
