PR for panel to look into fee structure

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Praja Rajyam Party has sought an independent commission by a sitting or a former Judge of the High Court to inquire into the fee structure of schools that charged exorbitant fees, while functioning as ‘not-for-profit’ institutions.

A delegation of party leaders called on Governor N.D. Tiwari at the Raj Bhavan and urged his intervention in asking the State government to extend the operation of AP Education Act and its concomitant guidelines for fixing of fees to primary educational institutions apart from strengthening the infrastructure to ensure implementation of such guidelines in letter and spirit.

The delegation included Praja Rajyam general secretary C. Umamalleshwar Rao, C. Ramachandraiah, Kala Venkata Rao, K. Subbarayudu, Joint Convenor, Greater Hyderabad unit, Kattela Srinivas Yadav and Yuva Rajyam general secretary D. Sravan Kumar.

They also wanted steps to see that junior colleges did not function as intensive training institutes for competitive examinations.
