Man dies after drinking acid accidentally

CHENNAI: A senior citizen, who accidentally drank acid in an inebriated condition on Friday, was admitted to a hospital but he died later.

According to the Ambattur police, A. Srinivasan alias Ranganathan (60) of Kambar Street in Ambattur was an alcoholic. The incident occurred in his home early on Friday when Srinivasan gulped the bottle of acid thinking it was water.

The victim’s wife Selvarani and neighbours rushed him to the Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital.

He succumbed to injuries on Saturday night, police added.
