Dhoni, R.P save India the blushes

CAPTAIN’S KNOCK: It took a century stand from captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and R.P. Singh to pull India out of the doldrums against the West Indies on Sunday.

Kingston: Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni dug in deep to take India to 188 after electing to bat in the second one-dayer against the West Indies here on Sunday.

Dhoni and R.P. Singh’s 100-run partnership gave the team some total to make a fight of it after it had slumped to 82 for eight in the 22nd over.

India’s start was disastrous as Dinesh Karthik, Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma fell in quick sucession.Yuvraj sizzled briefly but it was not to be his day as he too fell for 35.
