Vidya and Sathiyan emerge champions

CHENNAI: N. Vidya of SDAT-AKG TTDC and G. Sathiyan of SDAT-Medimix Academy showed ample evidence of their growing prowess by winning the women’s and men’s singles titles in the SDAT-AKG’s third State-ranking table tennis tournament at Hall of TT, Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.

Vidya overcame a spirited challenge from N. Arul Selvi of Indian Bank 11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 11-3, 6-11, 18-16 in the women’s final. G. Sathiyan’s controlled aggression paid rich dividends as he defeated Sivananda Seshadri of FCI 11-6, 8-11, 11-4, 11-6, 19-17 in the men’s summit clash. With this win, Sathiyan clinched a treble crown adding to his youth and junior titles.
