This Day That Age
Mr. Jaya Prakash Narayan, who had a series of meetings with the Dalai Lama last week, said in New Delhi on June 29, that his impression after the talks was that, the Tibetan leader was “contemplating to raise the Tibet issue in the United Nations.” In an interview with the PTI, Mr. Narayan was asked what would be the agency through which the Tibet question would be raised in the United Nations, Mr. Narayan said, “This is for the Dalai Lama to indicate.” He said he himself felt that it would be “rather tragic” if an event of the magnitude of the annexation of Tibet by China were to go unnoticed by “such a world organisation as the U.N., which represents, no matter how feebly, the moral conscience of the world.”
